I waited to read this because it is an impressively-sized book and because I did not think it would measure up to the author's earlier autobiographical piece, "Walk Like a Man." But, if anything, this surpasses it. Whatever the reader's religious preferences, Davin's account at how he arrived at being an atheist may well open some eyes. Most of the book deals with the author's long-term romance and his battle against the Vietnam conflict, over which he was willing to go to freedom before participating in what he felt was an unjust war. All this is grounded in the events of the 1960s, and anyone who lived through them will find this account riveting. The author's knowledge of many... Religious persuasion and anti-war sentiments may seem like two diverse elements, but Davin brings them together in a totally unexpected way from his opening chapter at a church camp to the next-to-last when he is urged to step forward and join the military. I would highly recommend this book. < Less
