I found this book difficult to put down. It grabbed my attention and held it until the very unpredictable ending and it left me wanting more. I also learned a lot about the sport of bike racing and have more appreciation for those who compete in the sport. As an adult, I would recommend this book to teens and grown-ups alike. I'm sure anyone would find the characters and story-line as captivating as I did.

"Hard Left" We all know how those teenage years can be; direction, passions, relatiohships, emotions, self awareness etc. Mr. Kirkpatrick writes in Hard Left in a manner which took me personally back to that time in my life and I felt like I was living out the story page by page. A real story about real people with all the lessons and emotions that life brings our way. I would recommend this book to any parent, athlete or student. I read in two days and my wife did the same. I hope Mr. Kirkpatrick is working on another book.

"A moving story for teenagers and adults alike" Even though my teenage years are long behind me, I really enjoyed this book. I became quite involved with the characters, who each rang true to me, and I found the book hard to put down. The characters' development individually and in their relationships with each other was insightful, and I was deeply moved at the end by the resolution of the story lines. An additional bonus was that as a non-athlete myself, Kirkpatrick's description of Cody's growing passion for cycling gave me insight into my husband's passion for the sport. I highly recommend this book. -- Kathy McHale

"Hard Left by Bruce Kirkpatrick" Very enjoyable read in teenager setting -- relationships, sports, with "good guys" willing and able to move on to their dream! The book was delightful, engaging, and fun to read -- start to finish! I always looked forward to getting back to it for what(?) was to come. Indeed, I was sufficiently surprised, always in a good and fulfilling way. Never disappointed! The book was very informative -- and understandable, too! -- for me as a non-biker. Looking for a sequel...a Disney movie for the entire family would be a natural!
