"Spain and Franco" I recently read the book, Holy Week, and thought it was very interesting. I had never read too much about Franco or the Spanish Political System.

I think it had the right balance of Spanish traditions and culture (especially during the time the novel took place) as well as the actual historical time of post-Franco Spain.

Taking an American journalist and inserting it in the novel allowed for a nice contrast between American and European cultural contrast, but also gave a frame of reference for those who may have never visited Spain.

I especially enjoyed Xavier Bentley's trip to Cadiz eating Paella, drinking wine. I would have loved to be at that lunch!

I enjoyed the book thoroughly,

Gero
