At the ripe age of twenty-five, Patrick Finnegan experiences a insomnia-driven manic episode where a brief encounter with the dead American poet Emily Dickinson reveals to him his purpose in American society through her poem numbered 883: “The Poets light but lamps…the wicks they stimulate if Vital light...” Hundred Day Haul is the story of one man’s obsession with capturing and reporting on America during the final 100 days of the 20th century. In 1997, Patrick Finnegan is a regular in the Martha’s Vineyard summer mowzone and an aspiring freelance photographer when he experiences an identity crisis. Despite the debt and doubters that surround him, Finnegan gains back his unbounded confidence and vision and begins his countdown and plan for the Haul, a hundred day roller coaster ride with the backdrop of the late ‘90s America.
