As a bio-chemist I found this book really interesting and helpful in explaining the politics of science. It is also worth saying that it follows on nicely from the work of CP Snow who wrote in the fifties about the ‘third culture’

"Influencing government policy on biotechnology" Important approach at looking at biotechnological innovation from a economic-cum-political standpoint. This is central from a government policy perspective when thinking about different technology transfer drivers and how to promote the knowledge economy.

"Innovation in Modernity" The book links nicely the philosophy of technology to the practical matter of promoting innovation in modern society. It also highlights the benefits and challenges that biotechnology – and all new technology – pose to modern society.
