"Into My Life"
I am not a fan of romance novels. And I'm also not a Beatles fan fiction enthusiast. This story was recommended to me by a friend. She told me any fan of Paul McCartney who also loves John Lennon would enjoy it, so I started to read it on line. I couldn't fully enjoy reading it on my pc, so I bought the book. From the first page, I was hooked. I found it to be so well written, exciting and well characterized, that I just could not put it down. Someone wanted to know if Diane has a connection to John's spirit? Well not only that, but I find it uncanny that she seems to know Paul so well also. Her characterization of him is so subtle and spot on, I had to keep reminding myself... More > that it was fiction. Every character in this book is a delight, from the real ones to the fictional ones. But the story she weaves around Paul and the fictional character Tess Martin, who is based on her own life, is the most entertaining and satisfying. The historical accuracy of the 1960's is also interesting. Anyone who was alive then will know what I mean. You will find yourself saying, "I remember that. I remember my parents and society, were like that..." Great book. I didn't want it to end. And I plan to re-read it many times! < Less

"Hooked"
I was introduced to the world of fan fiction in high school several years ago. I was raised on The Beatles and so I started looking online to see if Beatles fan fiction existed, which of course it did. Initially I was reading pretty poor quality Beatles fan fics that really had nothing to offer. Then one day I saw a post on a Beatles message board saying that this story called "Into My Life" was a must read for any Beatles fan. I found the site where the story was and began reading. After reading just a few paragraphs I knew the story was something special. I experienced what everyone else does when they discover this story; becoming completely hooked. I stayed up late at night... More > reading until my eyes hurt from staring at the screen, brought my laptop to school with me to read during classes, and put off homework so that I could immerse myself in this amazing love story. My heart pounded wanting to know what happened next between Tess and Paul; I cried along with Tess and I felt my heart soar. This book portrayed and captured who I always imagined these men to be. I read this book once a year because it really is that good. I hope you'll give it a chance and read it too. < Less

I'm on my third re-read of Into My Life, which has been made easy by having a hard copy of it. Diane captures the Beatles, particularly John and Paul so well and she makes them believable. And her original characters are also really likeable and well-developed. I hope she knows how much happiness and enjoyment her writing has brought. She's even inspired my friends and I to write our own Beatle fanfic. Thanks for showing that Beatles fanfic can be well-thought out and well-written.
