The idea to travel across the country by bicycle did not come bottled, packaged and ready for distribution, but came from believing that adventure was a worthy path to follow. After many conversations, Alisa, Sarah and Betsy decided to embark upon a bike trip along the Mississippi River. They found hosts along the route which allowed them to stick to a $2,000 budget for three months.
Taking in stories of each person they encountered, they occasionally took time to write them down, but more often committed them to memory. They couldn't keep their experiences to themselves; rather, they wanted to share them with as many people as possible. The result is part travel memoir, instruction manual and photo journal, but most importantly, it is a collection of the stories they heard and were a part of. Quirky at times, rambling at its worst, they tried to give credibility to all whom they met and all that they learned.
