"Hallelujah!"
It's not true! All the good men are not gay, married, or in prison!

Lela James discovers that true love is possible again, even after she's experienced being used, abused, and confused with prior relationships. Neil is the perfect salve for her wounded heart, offering unconditional affection and undeniable admiration.

Amanda Broady is the woman waiting in the cut, casting jealous eyes at Neil and Lela and their happy union. After working with Neil for years and slowly finding herself infatuated with a successful, professional Black man for the first time in her life, this blond bombshell vows to get what she wants, and what she wants is Lela's... More > man!

I was happily surprised by the twist at the end of this book. Too often we read the same storyline, and our brothers tend to always fall short. I am proud to say that I loved Neil Johnston from page 1 all the way to page 178 of this book. Let's hear it for the good men of this world! Shani Greene-Dowdell does not disappoint in this highly anticipated debut novel. I can't wait to read her newest work, Secrets of a Kept Woman. The excerpt included at the end of Keepin' It Tight was just enough to whet my pallet and leave me drooling for more!

"Review Keeping It Tight"
Keeping It Tight by Shani Greene Dowdell

Keeping It Tight opens up with heroine Lela exhaling. She’s contemplating marriage to her fiancé Tyrese Whitman, following an abusive marriage to her husband Kelton. To outsiders looking in the pair share the perfect marriage. Unbeknownst to Lela, Tyrese is cheating on her with a white woman.

Our hero, super work-a-holic Neil leaves work early one day to share good news with his live-in-lover Larna. Little does he know but a surprise awaits him at home. Larna has been creeping on Neil with another woman.

Both relationships bite the dust. Enter Trey, Lela’s cousin and Neil’s best... More > friend. He plays matchmaker and hooks up a brother and sister. After sharing a wonderful courtship the two fall in love and marry. Lela has every material thing a woman could wish for. She staunchly supports her man in all his endeavors. But once again she has to contend with a scheming white woman who has designs on her man, Neil’s co-worker/protégé, who makes no secret of her interest in Neil. She’ll stop at nothing to attain her goal of marrying Neil.

Lela feeling ignored by Neil as he quickly climbs the corporate ladder, succumbs to loneliness and begins an affair of her own.

Keeping It Tight was an excellent quick read, chock full of drama. I heartily recommend the book to those readers who love DRAMA! < Less

"A Quality Read" This was an awesome story about love. Some people go to great lengths to get it, and others don't know how to recognize that they have it. Still, some others struggle to keep it...tight that is. :-)

The author did an amazing job personifying the characters and making this story enjoyable for anyone who reads it - from small town hicks to big city chicks, the book is quality. Read it!
