"Line of Serenity"
I loved this book because it brought back so many wonderful memories of my own childhood which was very similar to the author. The book was humorous in parts and gave the reader such insight into the lives of a solid African American family who loved and respected each other. It is timely for such a time as this when so many stereotypes are in print about African American families. It displayed a hard working set of parents who were determined to raise their children to become solid productive citizens and not rely on welfare programs for their success. Many other ethnic groups think African Americans are all poor, illiterate, lazy and without fathers or solid male role... More > models. This book shows without a shadow of doubt how the majority of African American families survived in spite of the climate of racism in the U.S. It created a warm and proud feeling within me while reading and reminded me to be grateful all over again for the wonderful parents I had. Growing up in the late 40's and 50's was truly a wonderful experience and I can only wish that the children of this day and age could be blessed to have the same experiences. You should encourage Mrs. Fields to write a sequel to this wonderful, uplifting book! < Less

"Line of serenity" Reading this book made me wish that I could peer into the past and know these people at these times. This is a blessing and a resource for the author's family. Bravo!

"Line of Serenity" Line of Serenity is a fabulous book. I agree with others that it tells of a positive, strong and spiritual African-American family. Although I was raised by a single-parent, my mother transferred many of the morals, traditions, and values of women from the South. The book was a pleasure to read. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND KEEP SHARING. Thanks!!

"Food for Thought, for the Soul and the Spirit - Line of Serenity" Line of Serenity offers a first hand look at what a loving family provides, nourishes, and establishes. Mrs. Joyce Field has complied a wonderful tribute to not only her family, but families of all races and sizes. Reading the first 15 pages, sets the stage and captures the attention of her audience, with laughter, dignity, perseverance and the love of what a family offers. I recommend this book to all ages, for their reading pleasures.

"Line of Serenity" Every family should have a "line of serenity" running through it! This book has excellent examples of how it was growing up in an African-American community in the 50's and 60's. What is unique about this story is the author's insight on how her parents were able to lovingly raise three daughters and four sons to be caring, calm, unselfish, intelligent, responsible, and positive-thinking adults. The family pictures and recipes add a special touch to her family's story. (You'll find yourself wanting to try out these recipes!)
