"A legend in Operating Systems books" This book is a timeless legend for anyone interested in computer operating systems. My husband, a computer science professor, had actually mentioned this in his Operating Systems class as the definitive work on the subject -- "documentation that reads like Shakespeare" -- without knowing it was back in print. He was delighted and amazed when I gave this to him as a birthday gift. We're ordering another copy so he can have an extra to mark up and use in future classes; the practical assignments/problems are still relevant today. Unlike the downloadable versions floating around the Internet, this particular edition combines Lions' two works (commentary and commented code) with reviews from various computer luminaries and a foreword by Dennis Ritchie (co-creator of UNIX). Highly recommended.
