His recollections of day-to-day life in the heat and desolation of a Middle Eastern desert battling venomous insects, dehydration, bad food, and seemingly endless boredom are graphic and evocative.

Eash also experienced, albeit briefly, combat. He describes what it's like to be in a shooting war against an unseen, mysterious enemy. Eash's memoir, which reads very much like a war diary, includes haunting scenes of death, destruction, and charred corpses, set against an eerie backdrop of burning oil wells and smoke-blackened skies.

"Mission Saddam" is a fascinating read, and will be of particular interest to veterans of any war. This book is part adventure story, part social/political commentary, but wholly a work of enduring historical value.
