"Powerful and Useful"
Reading “Mother’s Dozen” is like having an important chat with a trusted, experienced friend or relative about how to raise a wonderful child. The good-humored, straight- forward, practical guidance presented in this book could only have been written by someone who has been there, someone who has seen the results, someone who cares about the future of all children who will one day take their place in this world.

“Mother’s Dozen” says much in few words. It’s the type of book that could be used in schools to stimulate thinking and to create a dialogue among teachers, students and parents. Such a book is the perfect catalyst for discussions at... More > parents’ groups, play groups, book clubs, youth groups, block clubs, parent-teacher associations and community organizations. Hospitals could give it as part of a package for new parents. New parents would welcome support and guidance in becoming the type of parents who make a positive difference in their child’s life.

A mother’s principles, love and guidance thread their way through every page of “Mother’s Dozen.” No wonder the outcome is “a wonderful son.” Might be interesting for the son to write a companion book telling us his reactions to each principle that shaped the man he is today.

Book deserves 6 stars. < Less

"Great guide for the new parent" As a new parent of a 1 year old son, I'm constantly bombarded by comments from others as to how we should raise him --- and many times these unsolicited opinions go against the heart of how I was raised. This is an excellent manual that helped to reinforce my convictions that the Golden Rule is still the BEST rule. Great job!

"Mother's Dozens" This book is a helpful guide to raising a caring, honest, independent, intelligent and respectful son or daughter. I think anyone who is raising children should have a copy of this book! This book makes a wonderful baby shower gift!

"Power Packed Without the Fluff" As a new father, Mother's Dozen has been a great resource. Why re-invent the wheel when Joyce Fields has put together a simple, yet comprehensive road map to child rearing.

The 12 categories are basic ingredients that cross gender, race and culture. To sum, Mother's Dozen takes you back to understanding the core values that drive individual behavior from infancy to adulthood. A great read.
