Every page of this book speaks not only to your heart, but your soul. From the impressive introduction by Colonel William L. Vanasse Jr. P.E. outlining the author's courageous survival and continued relationship with her liberators, to the author's effortlessly flowing words that dance through your mind inspiring vivid visions that immediately engage the reader. Although the striking poetry within this important volume paints a picture that elicits both laughter and tears, the voice of the author remains clear and determined. She brings a new perspective, sharing her world with us, weaving a tapestry both innovative and intimate. What a privilege to read this book and experience this author's extraordinary perception of her extraordinary life.

I have been privileged to make the acquaintance of this inspiring poetess…knowing Martha Osvat has given me some insight to her perspective about the powerful events she writes of….however, it strikes me that even if I had never met Martha Osvat, I would still be immensely impressed by the emotion and authenticity she brings to this work….history has recorded the battles of World War II; this volume tells you what the people felt and thought, then and now. Throughout the "Venture Sequence" the author masterfully takes you through the diabolical horrors of Auschwitz, then follows with "The Letters" in which her genious gently allows your breath to return. A compelling, riveting work. Marilyn Stillman Semiprofessional Pianist

This is a stunning book - very powerful in form and content. A virtuoso work, a tour de force of poetry writing. I was especially struck by the "Venture" sequence in the Holocaust section, - gripping and hard to put down, though emotionally not easy to read. Writing as a musician, I experienced the urgency and violent rhythms of the Prokoviev music the author refers to. At the same time, one finds romance and humor where least expected. Dottie Diggs, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra violinist and photographer
