I have the first edition of this work, put out by Fading Shadows in 1991.

This edition is so much better, production wise, thanks to Print on Demand.

What this work is is a creation of the fictious history of the "Purple Wars" from Operator #5. But I may need to explain things.

Operator #5 was a pulp hero published by Popular Publications. The hero was a secret service agent, who fought against many sinister foreigner, wanting to invade the US. Unusual for pulps, they published a 13-part series detailing the invasion, conquest, and liberation of the US by the "Purple Empire". The "Purple Empire" was a fictious European power, who had conquered most of... More > Europe and Asia, and decided to conquer the US.

As the series went on, the pulp novels cited from a fictious "Histoyr of the Purple Wars" by Harrison Steine. Tom Johnson basically created this work.

In addition, they have include scans of pulp covers and interior artwork. A great book and companion to reading the "Purple War" series. < Less
