Vito, a thirty years old out-of-luck freelance journalist in New York City, is given the chance to return home to Italy to interview Viva Lamour, the last movie star of the sword and sandal genre. While in Rome, trying to forget the girl who just broke his heart (and coming to terms with the sad reality that his hairline is receding), Vito rekindles with old friends and relatives he thought he would never see again. Our anti-hero will also cross path with a collection of excentric and colorful characters who will introduce him not only to the decandence Rome's nightlife has to offer but also to the fabulousness that comes with being "somebody". Stuck between two worlds, the one of the movie star and the extravagant characters that populate her universe, and the one of the primitive creatures he once called famiglia, Vito will come to terms with his own identity
