This book, beyond a reasonable doubt, presents factual information of what prostitution is truly about in the state of Nevada. It debunks the mis-education and advertised myths about legal and illegal prostitution, including the glamorization and glorification of the pimp and prostitute sub-culture. I investigated child and adult prostitution cases for 23 years of my 26-year career as an FBI Agent. My last 20 years were in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is clear to me that Melissa Farley has presented what all citizens need to know about prostitution, and that is …“to seek the Truth and see the total picture.”
Roger Young, Special Agent, FBI, Retired, Reno... More > Nevada

Reading Melissa Farley's outstanding book reminded me of how similar recognition of the sexual abuse of children is to the recognition of effects of pornography, also a form of abuse. In both cases, professionals have been slow to recognize the harm and have often not listened to those most immediately (and deeply) affected. One of the most valuable chapters in this remarkable work of scholarship is the account by those most directly involved of how prostitution works much like the indoctrination into a cult. The book is intellectually exhilarating, reminding us of the deep issues involved in prostitution. I highly recommend it to anyone concerned with the sexual abuse of women.
Jeffrey Masson Ph.D., author of The Assault on Truth: Freud's Suppression of the Seduction Theory, who has published 24 books since 1984.
