Killer quacks pose a danger to elderly veterans in VA nursing homes. Death panels decide who will live and who will die. Unless a nursing home resident's family orders them in writing to perform "heroics", the quacks are liable to pull the plug to clear a bed for a veteran on the waiting list. The cause of death should be "medical homicide" but death certificates are "doctored" more carefully than patients. There is no need to warehouse infirm veterans in nursing homes where cramped conditions, isolation, inadequate budgets, and overworked nurses lead to high death rates. Nursing homes have outlived their usefulness. It is high time for the VA to phase out its nursing homes and build assisted living condos where ailing veterans can recieve medical care without sacrificing privacy and independence. < Less
