This is a history of the teaching of Russian in the State of Arizona. It attempts to describe the efforts of EVERYONE who has EVER taught Russian ANYWHERE in the State of Arizona, as well as the subsequent fates of hundreds of their Arizona students of Russian. Over 1600 teachers and students are mentioned.
"Unusual Slavist"
This book is about influence of Russian on Americans - if all Slavists were as Dr. Lee Croft, Russian language would be more popular in the US then Spanish.
This book is also a story about endless fight with stupid administrators who gathered power over true Slavic Scholars. Plenty of funny and sad stories that took place during this life long fight represent enjoyable and thought provoking reading. I bet many Slavic (and other) scholars will read this book thinking - if I would have guts as Lee Croft has... They should also envy his devotion and love to his students, and not to his bosses.
