Scars on the heart is an inspiring book about a woman who was an abused spouse who freed herself from the nonsense and undeserved abuse that greeted her everyday. Alcohol abuse and the frustration of responsibility was a problem for her spouse and he took that frustration out on the person who was dedicated to him and willing to do whatever it took to make him comfortable and happy. No matter what Erma did, it was never good enough. The beatings and disrespect were always unprovoked. But, when Erma started loving herself and realized that the future was not going to get any better, she gathered up the mental strength to protect herself and her children and got away from the tyrant who so... More > poorly served as a husband, comforter and father. Many women live this life but so few leave or get away alive. Erma's story is a sad story of triumph but a story of courage and encouragement to those who are stuck believing that there's no hope and who are afraid to try and get way. Even after she got away from this abuser, most of her life was spent with men who abused her and she almost gave up hope on finding a man who would love, honor and cherish her. She finally found that man but she bacame his widow after he suffered a heart attack. Erma truly believes that living in fear is never an option and should never be accepted. No one deserves to live in fear. Erma encourages everyone who reads her book to find their happiness, be safe and live life the way God intended for them to. I love this book. My heart and congratulations go out to Erma for her will to live and her desire to protect hers and her childrens future. Five star rating on this book! < Less
