Surprisingly simple to read and understand, this small book is like a pith teaching - right to the point on how to meditate without building it up into a doctoral thesis you see so often. Of course, meditation as taught in the traditional methods IS complicated once you begin to go into the more subtle levels of mind, but we westerners have to start at the beginning and to understand the goal before we begin. This is the "no fear for newbies" perfect book for beginning, and if you can stick with it, will serve as your guide for many years. Then if you want, you can go to Palyul Retreat Center every summer for the intense levels of training: www.palyul.org. And if you need a place for asking questions, www.tara.org.
