Straight

Straight by J.L. Foster is a romantic alternate universe story where the tables are turned and homosexuality is accepted and heterosexuality is banned.

Matthew Grey’s life has never been an easy one. His father is the leader of the accepted religion where homosexual life style is expounded and the... More > opposite heterosexuality is looked upon as evil. Mat’s problem is that he is straight and in hiding. Mat has never had so much as a date, but his going to the prom is supposed to solve that problem. The most unexpected thing happened when Mat met Amy and they quickly realized that they had more in common than just being straight. Mat and Amy are drawn towards each other, but fate intervened and they are torn apart by Mat’s father, and he is subjected to horrible treatment all in the name of religion.

Two years later, Mat is no better off than he was. He is still hiding his nonconformity from the world, but his feeling have never changed. He never saw Amy again and he always wonders what happened to her. Hidden until now he has avoided any romantic entanglements, but this time his luck has run out. Mat is forced into a date with a guy, but things end very badly, but where one curtain closes another one opens and Mat reunites with his lost love. Will Mat and Amy find a way to be together this time?

Mr. Foster created a fascinating story that twists reality and makes what is considered normal abnormal. It was intriguing to see how things are looked at from another point of view. This may be a love story about two people that won’t give up on their feelings and cave into accepted morality, but it also shows how prejudice can blind people. By making things completely opposite from our world, Mr. Foster allows the reader to see our own behavior with unclouded eyes. It is my hope that others will become more aware of how our behavior can affect others and work towards a truly loving world. Thanks goes to Mr. Foster for a truly inspiring book.
