Sugar Ninjas is an all-girl anthology series with comics, short stories, illustrations, and more. Edited and published by Bob Pendarvis, original creator of SCAD’s Sequential Art Dept., Sugar Ninjas provides a showcase for a wide range of promising newcomers and established professionals, united not only by gender, but by devotion to their art. Each Sugar Ninjas volume is comprised of two separate books. Sweet Book is family-friendly and happily girly-girl. If you’re looking for stories with tea parties and pretty dresses or bunnies and kittens, then Sweet Book is for you. Spicy Book is rated 18-and-up, with some material geared for a more “mature” audience (partial nudity, naughty language, violent imagery), allowing girls the chance to express themselves as freely as possible. Sugar Ninjas: Spicy Book (Vol. 2), published in the same landscape format as volume one, contains 316 pages from 44 female artists/storytellers.
