After many years of cryopreservation, Ludwig opens his eyes, to find himself in a world where technology has advanced to the level of magic. Advanced nanorobotics allows man to control dead matter down to the atomic level to defy the laws of nature and reforge their own identity. Transhumans, who comprise most of the population, use this technology to ever push the limits of their mental, emotional and physical abilities, in the hope eventually to achieve a point of infinite consciousness — the Singularity.
Not everyone agrees with this philosophy, however, and like everything, this technology has its danger. This proves to place humanity before its greatest existential risk ever. The human species has split up into two separate species: those that choose to remain natural, and those that choose to transcend themselves further and further. Eventually, these two parties become so opposed that a war becomes imminent, a war of such scale that it will threaten to put an end to the newly born transhuman race.
