"Tenure Track to Mommyville"
You’ll enjoy this one.

Elaine Barlow has made a bargain with her husband, George. He longs to establish his own veterinary practice, but agrees to work at a temporary position until the end of the year so she can secure the work she wants. How long will George’s patience last?

Having lost her academic tenure-track position, Elaine desires another such exalted post. Since she left her job and gave birth to a daughter, she misses her income, her academic expertise has lost value, and her colleagues have sailed off to success. She is faced with errand running, grocery shopping, and entertaining a demanding (but charming) pre-schooler—-a life she... More > never wanted to lead.

In search of a new definition of herself, Elaine discovers wisdom in friends, her parents, and a manicurist and uncovers clues that George is seeing someone else. Can Elaine find herself before she loses her marriage?

After a slow start, the book is a compelling read. Elaine’s struggles and courage will touch man or woman who has lost a career and unwillingly faced new beginnings. The writing flows, filled with sensitivity and humor and little self-pity. Author Barbara Grosh has done a great job.
