"Book review, Business of Freelance Writing"
This book with an immense title — The Business of Freelance Writing: How to develop article ideas and sell them to newspapers and magazines —offers equally immense amounts of information about the basics of the freelance business. It is an excellent primer for beginners who want to succeed.

A 15-year freelance writing veteran, Paul, Lima gives “no outlandish promises of riches or instant mega-success” but outlines what you would need to build your freelance business from scratch.

In a detailed and well organized manner, using the most current websites, examples and exercises, he takes you from your personal... More > vision as a writer, through the nitty-gritty of focusing your market and identifying financial needs, to the work required to marry those into a successful business.

Although established freelancers may want to skip through portions of some very basic material, Paul offers excellent advise that can be used not only by beginners but also those who have been in the business a while but are still struggling. His example query letters are also great showcases of what will (and did) attract the editor’s eye.

You could do a lot worse than to buy this book as a primer for your freelance writing.
