I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Elizabeth

Elizabeth Williams brings Elvis fans a new insight into his personal life. She knew him in a way few others can claim. Ms. Williams met the King when she was only six years old. Their meeting could only be defined as fate or divine intervention. They became reacquainted nearly fifteen years later. Although there was a generation gap between the couple (nineteen years difference), they were drawn to each other. Beth had heard of Elvis, mainly because her mother was a fan of his, but knew very little else about him or his music. Elvis fell in love hard and fast; Beth fell in... More > love more slowly and cautiously, knowing that this life would not be easy either for her or her daughter, Tara. Beth also loved Elvis’ dad, Vernon, who helped keep their relationship going but also provided the secrecy.

Beth had heard the rumors of Elvis’ drug addiction and his weight problem was obvious, but she was convinced that the prescription medicines were only used to alter his sleeping and overseen by a doctor. Their wedding was planned but never materialized even though they loved each other.

My wife gave me this book, The Elvis I Remember by Elizabeth Williams, because she knew I have been an Elvis fan for as far back as I can remember. I liked Elvis not only for his music, but I always admired him as a man who got there on his own merit, still kept his faith and remained a southern gentleman. Ms. Williams brings to life the part of Elvis’ life that I, and probably a lot of other fans, knew little about: the final years.

What a great book! I was intrigued to discover this part of Elvis' life that was told in such a loving, matter-of-fact way, while still maintaining Elvis’ dignity. Although this book was to shed more light on Elvis’ life, after reading it, I found myself wondering about Beth and the years that followed. Ms. Williams is to be commended for truly loving the King for himself rather than what he could do for her.

Review: Memphis Freelance Journalist
What a book.
I was one of the first people asked to read this book before it was made public by the publisher. The author poured her heart out in telling her story about Elvis. At first I wasn't sure if this was a true story or not. However, the more I asked around while in Memphis, the more I leaned towards this being a true story. As a reporter I have seen and heard it all. When I started asking questions about the authenticity of what was written, I did not do it as a book reviewer, but as a loving fan of Elvis. I talked to many of Elvis's closest friends and most of them changed the subject as soon as I started asking. They didn't change the subject because they thought it was just another book written by some obsessive fan, but because they were hiding something. If you want to know more about what has been written in this romantic insight to possibly one of Elvis's greatest love affairs then you are going to have to read it yourself.

Since I am honored to be included on the dedication page of my dear friend's book, I sat down to read it, a story she had written, based on her relationship with the famous Elvis Presley. I have never read such a riveting story of a real life celebrity before, as told from those he was personally involved with. She has managed to share their most intimate of secrets, while weaving an intriguing story of joy, pain and cold hard reality. I found myself on the edge of my seat, wanting to know more of this Elvis the man, not Elvis the singer, the man rarely allowed to show his "human side" on the stage and big screen. There are millions of Elvis fans, clamoring to know more of The King- This book completely covers his life from a child, devoted to his loving mother, to his painful addiction to prescription drugs, and finally to the love of his life that few people had known about. I laughed, I rejoiced in the love they had found in each other, I cried...

My wife and I consider Elizabeth a close friend and confidant, and in hearing her relationship story with Elvis Presley and feeling the love that they had shared, it was an honor of ours to read her book and share in her story

Elizabeth was able to capture the very essence of who Elvis was, I feel in this novel that she shared not only the sweetness of their relationship, but remained honest in who he was- a human being like us all, never immune to mistakes, failures and struggles. But I like that about him. Many times, even to his own despair I have read, he was placed on a pedestal and called The King, and I heard that when "The King" was called out from the crowd, he grew angry and said, "No- there's only One King and that is Jesus Christ." I really respect that about him. That shows a level of humbleness Thank you Elizabeth for a beautiful, but honest view into the life of Elvis Presley. I hope the world will be able to read your story
