I thought the book was good. It has information that wasn't well known about Kiss and Eric. There isn't much information on Eric before the 1970's. The book shows the good and bad sides of Eric. The author covered Eric's battle with cancer, and Gene and Paul's treatment of him more than anywhere else. The book is a collection of quotes from the people who knew Eric, and their quotes follow the story line.

This book is not the Eric Carr story. Its no more than another Kiss story. There is more info on Vinnie's personality than Eric's. The actual stories that people share can be condensed into 4 pages. Why is there a photo of Black n' Blue? The photo section is weak. Too many photos of Kiss, not enough of Eric. The common thread is that Eric was a nice guy, but no one really has any "I remember when we..." stories. Eric's own sister only has one cool story. Pass on this one...

Having read all through these years lots of books regarding KISS, I must admit that I wasn’t familiar with many details about Eric’s character and Prato doesn’t fail to shed light in Carr’s most positive aspects and the “darker” corners” of his personality. For example, we get a good picture of his insecurities and his constant fear of a possible firing from KISS. Also, we read many things about his turbulent relationship with Paul Stanley (especially during 1989-1991) while we learn more about his kind and warm soul and how thoughtful he was about his fans. Trust me, this isn’t a post-mortem quote; the fans’ memories are the ultimate testimony and define why Eric was simply the most lovable member of KISS throughout the years. If only, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons were more sensitive about this subject…after all, 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of Eric Carr’s death. A cold quote every year in the official site of KISS is surely not sufficient enough.

Upon my request, my wife got me this book for Christmas. I just finished reading it. I could NOT put it down. I loved it! I've been a KISS fan for 30 years and had the good fortune to meet Eric once before a show in Dayton, Ohio, in 1990. He really was a cool guy. I have the picture of me and him in a KISS display in my basement. I've read many books on KISS, and this one provided detailed information on Eric Carr as well as KISS events during his tenure. It was interesting to read the many "he said, she said" parts of the book where people have conflicting views or memories of what happened. It is up to the reader to make his or her own judgement. The author did a good job of gathering information but kept himself neutral if he did not have first-hand information. A must-buy for any KISS fan!

Greg Prato put together a fine book that delves into the life of loved and mourned Kiss drummer, Eric Carr. Contrary to what you may be thinking, this is no white-wash job about the band's second drummer (in the band longer than Peter, and responsible for updating their sound to compete with the emerging 80s metal), Prato gives you the ups and the downs of Carr's personality, but more than anything you feel the Fox's pain and suffering, not only at the hands of sickness and disease, but from his employers, who left him high and dry when he was on his deathbed. The most informative quotes are from Bruce Kulick who was probably closer to Eric than anyone during their time in the band together. Kudos to Prato!
