It would be optimistic to suggest that this was simply a book about a cricket club.
At times Offley & Stopsley Cricket Club has displayed closer resemblance to an ongoing care in the community project than a bastion of cricketing excellence.
Then again, if you'd had the misfortune to feature in the club's first ever match and subsequently found yourself in the thick of things eleven years later, perhaps you too would have a slightly jaundiced outlook on proceedings.
However, regardless of the tanturms that have been thrown and the tiaras that have been smashed over the past eleven years, the flag still flutters proudly over the pavilion at Offley - or at least it would do if anyone could have been bothered to get it down at the end of the 2003 season instead of allowing it to be ripped to shreds by the elements and scattered to the four winds.
This is the story of the First Eleven.
