"Guide to IT Contracting"
The Guide to IT Contracting is a well written, in-depth book about everything you need to know about starting, growing, and sustaining an IT contracting business. It contains a thorough look at all aspects, including practical information, seen as common sense, but so often overlooked by entrepreneurs who work toward an ideal, based mainly on expertise in the field. The information is well organized and very readable. The essence of this book is a good foundation for the planning and start of any business. The author uncovers many unforeseen facets of starting and continuing a successful business. It is as valuable as an on-site mentor who emphasizes... More > professionalism and quality service.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has thought about working as an independent contractor. Consultants could improve their services with this book as a guide. The clear advice and insight that the author offers can stimulate the pursuit of your interest, and detail the pitfalls that might be avoided. The section on “Investment for Financial Freedom” is an important part of self-employment, and adds further value to this total business picture.

"One of the best books on IT Contracting..." One of the better, if not the best, book I've gotten my hands on about IT Contracting! Refreshing in its common sense discussion of what can be a highly technical area, this book offers valuable insight for everyone from the beginning Contractor to the seasoned veteran looking to gain a bit of an added edge on the competition. The Guide to IT Contracting also has profit for someone who is not at all involved in the IT Contracting field. It is worth the purchase price simply for the incredibly helpful discussion on handling money well. An excellent read that I would highly recommend!

"Excellent IT Career Information"
IT is one of the strongest growing fields in the workforce today and shows no sign of slowing. This book gives you all the information you need to get started in this exciting field with detailed breakdowns of all of the elements you need to know to be an expert. Regardless of your current skill set and knowledge on the subject you will find information that will benefit you in your chosen career. For independent IT contractors this book is a must and it covers every aspect from legal regulations and tax laws to handling yourself in corporate situations. While the legalities and tax information lean heavily to British law even that information will help... More > people from any country in knowing what to look for in their own legal systems and tax laws in order to be effective and prosperous in this lucrative career.

This book can be very helpful to businesses looking to hire independent contractors for IT work as well. That is an even newer field than IT work itself and many business people who are experienced in the efforts of hiring employees feel out of their element when contracting people to work on a contract basis. This book is a great guideline to the many aspects their contractors will deal with and why they desire certain aspects that may seem foreign to corporate individuals unused to dealing with independent contractors.
