" Evocative, one-of- a-kind poetry" In the lyrical lines of this book-length poem, Kim Roberts distills for us the essence of India. She summons up streets full of autorickshaws, scooters, buses, all honking to "...turn, cross an intersection, stop." Men in dhotis "-squat, all protruding/ arms and knees,/like giant grasshoppers." An old woman tries to teach the traveler the word for friend.

Roberts' attention to sensual detail, her braiding of historical past and present, and the revelations in her observations are among the delights of this book. The Kimnama is a pleasure to read and contemplate.
