The Legend of Black Creek
By: Viola Tabor/
(Book Review)

An excellent-mysterious-captivating story of two sisters on “an unforgettable, whirlwind adventure”, as they leave their home in Florida to live with their Aunt Sally for the summer.
One of the main characters in this book is Violet. She is described as a precocious, mischievous child. The readers will see how Violet portrayed herself to be strong willed and out spoken yet she had a whit about her like no other.
Her sister Jan was known to be quiet and sweet. She was there in the story but she basically just followed in the shadows of her sister.
As the story opens we see that Violet was not to happy about making this move to... More > Black Creek. Their uncle had passed away and their Aunt Sally had prepared her house for them to come and spend the summer with her. We find Violet miserable about this situation and she wanted everyone else to be miserable too.
As the chapters began to unfold we see there was another side to Violet. She was a gifted child. She had a sixth sense which begins to unveil on this journey after arriving in Black Creek.
The first experience happened when her Aunt Sally showed her a view of the lake that surrounded her house. Violet believed she had fallen asleep when she saw the image of a girl in the water “drowning”.
Her mom and Aunt assured her that no one was in the water only fish jumping up to play. Mom felt it was her tiredness from the long journey but deep down within Aunt Sally’s heart she knew differently.
The author certainly takes us on a journey of suspense as we read about how this city had lived in fear of a “ghost” whom they felt had been haunting them for years.
You must read about this “Legend” that was past down from generation to generation and is finally brought to light by the determination of one “mischievous” sister.

"The Legend of Black Creek by Viola Tabor" This is a wonderfully exciting and refreshing story. It is very well written and imaginitive and each page leaves you desperate to know what happens on the next. It covers many catagories including humor, sadness, excitement and suspense. It is well rounded to cover any age from a preschooler listening to it being read aloud to an adult just looking for a little fantasy and escape from reality. I hope this author continues to write many more such adventures.
