"The Northern Tier "
Having purchased the book because my wife and I are trying to get into shape to do something similar, I was excited to read it. I found the writing engaging and easy to follow. In the account there is a pleasant mixture of humor, honesty and insight. Some of the more delicate issues of long distance riding were handled in a straight forward manner without providing "too much" detail.

The author gives glimpses into his personal life and thought processes, while still focusing on the journey and interesting characters and situations encountered along the way.

I found the style to sometimes wander slightly between book and... More > blog, however, this did not detract from the interesting story. I was constantly waiting to see what happened on the next page.

I believe, and the author stated, that they hoped to inspire others to get up and do something in their lives. I know they have succeeded in motivating at least one individual...me. < Less

Reading the book for the 4th or 5th time, I just thought I would share how much I enjoy it. I really enjoyed the gentle humor and travel descriptions coupled with the logistic and technical aspects of the ride. But perhaps the most remarkable thing is the introduction to the author whose unique character is refreshing.

"The Northern Tier" I've gotta say this is, by far, the best book I have ever read. Lief is an amazing author. The way he puts in to detail the ups(and downs) of their journey makes the reader live the adventure with them. It was a very good story that I will recomend to everyone I know.

"The Northern Tier" I loved this book. With each page turned, a new and exciting adventure unravels. Lief's honest and clever approach to each day is truly inspiring, not to mention he's hilarious. One of the best books I've ever read.
