PLEASE NOTE: This book is a variation on Impulse & Initiative/To Conquer Mr. Darcy, and should not be considered a completely separate novel. The first third of the books are virtually identical, but after that the plots diverge substantially. In my opinion, Impulse & Initiative is a stronger book, but The Rule of Reason has some segments which I particularly like. I'm making this available at the request of several readers, but it won't be sold outside Lulu.
The premise is the same as for Impulse & Initiative, but in the library scene at Pemberley, Darcy and Elizabeth make a different decision. As a result, they do not marry in Derbyshire, and the action that follows is quite different. This book, like From Lambton to Longbourn, contains no graphic scenes.

"Can it be?I actually enjoyed it BETTER than Impulse & Initiative!"
Although Abigail Reynolds states that she believes that Impulse and Initiatives is the stronger of these two books, I think I might have to disagree. Rule of Reason has all the passion and love of Impulse and Initiative but also shows stronger character and resolve in both Elizabeth and Darcy. As they do not submit entirely to their passions, this author successfully translates the power and sensualality of a lover's first kiss and in controlling one's ardor. I just love how she puts our beloved characters in different scenarios and seeing what decisions they might choose. Their choices in Pemberley's library takes our characters on an entirely different experience than I&I. True to the author's talents, this latest publication is a pager tuner and I confidently recommend another from the Pemberley Variations of what if's.
While Impulse and Initiative was not my favorite Abigail Reynolds'books, I think it was much better than the rule of reason. However, it was nice to meet my favorite two once again.
