I just finished reading this book and saw that there were no reviews. So here goes! Sheldon's tells an extremely creative story that falls into the category of mystery-science fiction-thriller. I found his writing to contain vivid descriptions with some truly beautiful and imaginative lines. The characters are colorful and memorable. The story delves into mystical places and some of the dramatic tension comes from the characters' struggle with how to explain events once scientific explanations fall short, or rather when time or access to study the mystery is severely limited. While reading, I found I went to a number of emotional places -- at first I simply observed and wondered, and then I... More > found myself feeling like one does when my feeble brain tries to grasp the scope of the universe. Hard to describe that feeling, but it is a mixture of feeling bleak, scared, and awed. The dramatic tension in the book becomes acute and that was definitely what I experienced. And then there was beauty. < Less
