"The Shadow Man by Karin Coddon"
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. If you live near Del Mar, California, or ride horses, you’ll get a kick (no pun intended!) out of it, and the references to familiar places and experiences. If you enjoy a fun read, a well-plotted mystery/suspense story, or a more serious exploration of the human psyche and its failings and strengths, then I recommend The Shadow Man. Who knows, you might just learn about 20th century philosophy, as well.

On its surface, this is the story of a haunted house, and its insidious effects on the people who reside or visit there. As the hero and heroine attempt to unravel the mystery and banish the haunting... More > spectre, there is another layer which explores the perils of addictions, to drugs, alcohol, and love, and how they, too, haunt the main characters. And, a deeper level explores the haunting of the characters by a family’s secrets and lack of introspection.

Interlaced with the unfolding plot are wicked depictions of various social and demographic “types”, humorous contemporary political banter, and informative discussions of 20th century philosophical theories. < Less
