"A great resource for families with aging relatives"
This book is really quite good and reads very easily. I read half of it in one night, no problem. It's full of practical advice without neglecting the larger moral issues that family caregivers are faced with. Actually it contains a lot of good solid psychological advice for many situations-- but primarily it's helpful for families facing the inevitable scenario of aging relatives who can't quite go it alone anymore and need help. Unlike some books on the subject it was not written by somebody who simply took care of grandma and then wrote about it, the author was a professional caregiving consultant for several years, so it's a little... More > more objective and takes a larger view. It's also free of religious dogma, and it examines self sacrifice and other issues in a more practical frame without neglecting the spiritual. Some of the main points are a bit repetitive, but I didn’t really mind that too much. There’s even some humor which is nice considering the serious subject. I could see this as a book to help plan for ones owne retirement as well-- health and caregiving issues are part of the package. < Less
