This book opened my eyes to the reality that the orphans and the fatherless who comprise such a high percentage of the street people and even of the gang population in our inner cities will never be helped permanently by institutions or by impersonal, bureaucratic government programs that simply throw money at a problem. God sets the lonely and the solitary individuals into FAMILIES where a mature son not only receive provision, protection and guidance in the present, but an inheritance in the future.

The church will need to become the church in order to address the issues of abortion, of the gangs, of drugs, etc., etc. The Holy Spirit within the believer is a Spirit of adoption that makes... More > us aware that we become mature sons as we are guided and led by the Spirit of God, which is a spirit of adoption, making us aware not only of our adoption as sons, but prompting us to adopt and to take in the stranger, the orphan and the fatherless into our families. In this way, the real Jesus will be seen, and the heart of the Father revealed to a generation that desperately needs to find answers in these areas. < Less

Book Endorsements:
God's compassion and justice for the orphans and widows is abundantly clear throughout the Bible. In “Strength of the King” God's zeal for justice and God's compassion is amplified; His invitation is compelling. The tasks to pray, care for, and adopt orphans become reachable goals. This book is devotional, inspirational, instructional, and pragmatic.

To love the orphan in distress brings us to experience the world at its most beautiful and its most broken.  This is not a realm to be entered lightly, nor can we be sustained in it by guilt, duty or idealism.  Both poignant and practical, “Strength of... More > the King”, brings us to the one wellspring that can nourish, guide and protect us for the long journey.  It draws us to God’s heart in prayer and worship as we take up “the cause of the fatherless” (Isaiah 1:17) through adoption, foster care and global initiatives.
—Jedd Medefind, President, Christian Alliance for Orphans www.christianalliancefororphans.org

The Church must rise up and do what God has called us to do in behalf of the poor and the oppressed. I commend The Orphan Justice Center and "Strength of the King" for leading the way in bringing awareness and for being about the Master’s business.
(Galatians 2:10)
