Inspires and motivates children to set, document, and commit to their own goals for self-improvement at school and at home. Targeted for kids age 8 to 16. Interactive and fun!
Excellent tool for school systems/teachers/parents to use to instill in our children (5th - 8th graders)the importance of getting a good education!!! This book includes a great short play that reminds students that there was once a time in American history when it was against the law for everyone to learn how to read and write. It's a travasty today that so many young people are dropping out of school and not fulfilling their true destiny just because they believe that being smart is wack. This book gives children the tools to set goals to do better not only at school, but at home in order to make themselves and this world a better place.
I really liked this book. I was amazed at how it relates to the issue today. It shows people how we don't appreciate the fact that we are even given the opportunity to learn to read, write, and go to school. It was also showed how people take what chance they have of succes for granted. I also love the element of voice put in it portraying the fact that because the slaves were uneducated, their grammar wasn't that good. Overall I think it covered all the elements of an excellent book that's both educational and good in moral. It's a book that both kids AND adults can connect with. I really liked this book and I'm going to read the other two books by this author.
The Vision is a great book. It spreads a strong and clear message to all readers. As a sixteen year old I learned how important education really is. It spreads its message in a simple enough way for all readers to understand it. The Vision makes people of all colors and ages want to read, and for that I consider it a well written book.
I recently had the opportunity to read this book and was VERY IMPRESSED!!! :o) The diversity and dynamics of the content alone are worth it's weight in gold. Not only is this book a GREAT educational tool in schools for our youth today, but it's a book (and story) that can be shared in our church Sunday School classes and in our own homes. It's rich in history and offers encouragement for the present and the future.
