There's only one thing Erik Seeton wants in his pathetic teenage life: to be left alone to wallow in the superficial miseries of rejected love and mediocre grades. One blisteringly cold winter morning, Erik’s dared to find a fabled French musketeer's mansion in The Haunted Woods. Deciding to prove how ridiculous his friends are, Erik actually goes to the place where the mansion would have been to prove it doesn’t exist, only to find it. Finding the mansion is the least of Erik’s concerns when he picks up an elaborate French rapier inside the mansion that unleashes a great evil into the city. Suddenly, Erik finds himself garbed in the ancient uniform of the French musketeers with a magical mastery over ice and water. It falls heavily on his shoulders to save Zoe Dominique against an evil just the day before he’d mocked as impossible while watching the little bit of life he had crumble away as those around him neither know of who he is or what his destiny is.
