"Witty, tender, and fun" The Widow of Saint-Pierre is a worthy successor to the Tragical Tale of Aelianus. Witty, tender, and just plain fun to read, this book weaves comedy, tragedy, and melancholy together into a rich tapestry of human passion, manners, and relationships. And if these are not enough to satisfy you, you will also find mystery -- who is the Widow of Saint-Pierre? And what business takes her to Newfoundland every night? -- and magic to pique your interest.

The characters are wonderfully drawn, along with the setting. More than once did I feel a longing to drop everything and head out to the North Atlantic and wander along the roads of Saint-Pierre, as described in the novel.

I heartily recommend this book -- you will not be disappointed!
