"TTRACKING THE PIONEERS by Stan Browning" As a descendent of one of Capt. Ralph Stewart's 21 children who did not know the family history until recently I am astonished at the volume of material and references Stan Browning has collected and organized into this volume. Here are not only detailed genealogical charts but well written, detailed descriptiona of life on the Appalachian and further frontier and Indian/Revolutionary War activity in which this Stewart family played a role. My father, brother and grandson, Ralph, and brother Stewart carry the name. Now we know more of the story. Browning acknowledges his limits in editing and collecting more info as this is a "work in process". He honostly examines family legends and gently challenges details. For personnal enjoyment or serious genealogists, this is a treasure.
