"Uncle Jake's Hat by J. P. Hannam" Uncle Jake's Hat is a delightful tale about family values, childhood imagination and plain goofy fun. I have the unique privilege of owning the first ever copy of Uncle Jake's Hat. My children love the story and have asked me to read it to them over and over again.

"Uncle Jake's Hat"
As the author of this story, I suppose I am a bit prejudiced. True! Nevertheless, I would like any one considering a purchase to know that it was a labor of love. The two little girls in the story were two of the children my wife was caring for in her daycare business several years ago. I would see them each afternoon when I came home from work and simply fell in love with them. They were so sweet, adorable and innocent - how could I not? And they truly did love playing with hats (including the old sombrero we had lying around the house). Slowly, the idea for a story began forming in my mind. Russell was another of my wife's daycare charges and when his grandmother... More >dmother readily agreed to let me include him in the story, I had the basis for my story. "Uncle Jake" is my youngest son, Phillip, who agreed, with some persuasion from me, to participate as well.

So, whether you buy a copy or not (I realize that self-published books such as this are somewhat more expensive than you'd find at your local bookstore), I am glad I was able to complete the story and immortalize, forever, two sweet and adorable little girls. In effect, I was able to freeze them in time since they, and Russell, are quickly growing up. Phillip recently graduated from the University of Maryland and is well on his way to making his mark in the world.

If you do buy a copy, thank you. I hope you and your children or grandchildren enjoy it as much as I enjoyed working on it.

Sincerely,
John-Pierre M. Hannam, Sr.

P.S. I'm retired now and living on a fixed income. Feeling guilty yet about not buying a copy? < Less
