"Reaper User Guide" This is one user guide you will want to keep around. Very much unlike some other software user guides where they give a tiny bit of information to get you going, this one touches on just about every single facet of the program. It is done in a concise, easy to read manner that keeps things moving along quickly but most importantly, CLEARLY. Excellent graphics, tables and index round out this excellent instructional book.

Bravo!

"Up and Running"
Mr Francis really has the market covered with this one, as it's a reference manual, and a procedural guide, and a complete learning course too. It covers the basics for novices without sounding condescending, while not being off-putting for pro users either. Then it moves onwards into the deeper recesses of the program, even covering third party add-ons and other software which can be used in conjunction with Reaper.

Copious illustrations are provided so that it's quite possible to study the book away from the computer.

To go with the book, sample project files have been prepared which can be downloaded to illustrate some of the concepts and... More > features described in the book.

Mr Francis writes clearly, straightforwardly, with a consistent style and good use of English - attributes not always found in books of this type.

Even experienced users are likely to find nuggets of information of which they were unaware, and the book does a good job of cementing previous knowledge and ordering one's methods and approaches to working with Reaper.

Lastly, it's bang up to date. Well, almost, as the program is constantly evolving, but updates can be downloaded very soon after each major release.

Essential reading for anyone who is fortunate to be a Reaper licence holder, or even just evaluating the program. < Less

"Outstanding." A definitive, and well thought out guide to a powerful, fast, and rising star, in the world of Digital Audio Workstations. No software is complete without good documentation, and Geoff has surpassed himself in creating a manual that experienced and new users alike can use with confidence. This is a definitive example of how user manuals should be written.
Outstanding work.

This is a massively informative and well-organized book. For those accustomed to software books made by the likes of Que or those "The %Anything% Bible," people, you are in for a pleasant surprise. This guide is perhaps the best software book I've ever read, on any program. I have purchased two different revisions to this book now and perhaps I'll wind up buying another. Not bad, considering it's a free download. :-)
