I hope the writer of this book reads my comment.I created an account with lulu JUST to leave this comment. You see,I too had selective mutism.I read the few pages lulu allows one to read, and Dylan's description of how he feels struck a nerve with me, because it's exactly how I felt.I completely understand how Dylan feels.I've been able to overcome selective mutism for the most part, but the feelings I had are still there.I still feel tense when having to speak to people, and I dread calling people up on the phone.I often don't like to speak unless I have to.I spent years in psychology before I was able to finally talk.I was 15 when I started being able to speaking with people outside my family.I hope you're getting Dylan the help he needs.Hopefully, he'll be able to start speaking earlier than I did.

***** I bought this book because my grandson has SM. The book is extremely informative and helped me understand my grandson better. Seeing SM through the eyes of a child was educataional for me. I would highly recommed this book to anyone who has a connection with SM either personally or just through interest.
