In Syberberg's film, "Our Hitler" (1977), one of his roving monologists lectures a marionette of Adolf Hitler, as to all the words (most of them broad terms, anyway) devalued or blurred or confused or ruined by Der Fuehrer giving them his own, unique spin in his 1000-year 12 years at the helm. Today, it is Hitler himself, as image, as term, as reference, and as persona, we have ruined. Bill Maher told us once on Real Time, "Nobody is Hitler...BUT HITLER!!!" Would we understood that, but the temptation toward boogeymen and using them as cudgels, is too great for homo sapiens. So, we drag him out for purposes, made like unto the image of They Who Displease Us, and in the... More > end, it is They who are less Hitler than We who rage, and Hitler the least Hitler of all.
In plain English, "(You Have Finally Won") is me shoving a large mirror at everyone I pass, saying, "Do you have a problem with this?" Cheekier than "12 times 12 equals Gross", almost me as Mussolini being oh-so-pleased with myself, it's still The Human Condition. Standard of my glowing assessments, The Human Condition remains "hypercritical". Another point of this offering, is that, if one is going to have a concept of Evil in the least bit, then please recognize that "Evil", by necessity, is Always and Ever that which is beyond our eyes. Hence, we create Hitler. Which, ala Henry Jekyll, turns us into Hitler. I know what you're thinking, just now, but there really is no contradiction: As a narcissist who is "out" to everyone, I'm all right with Every Man a Devil.
You'll have to decide what you personally see in my mirror. It's likely to bother you. Anger you. Distress you. Trouble you. If it bounces off you, you are indeed an ubermensch, and that's more troubling still.
There is humor, here. This isn't the sniping of "12 times 12...". There is (mostly) brevity here, as well. It's still pedantic. I cannot choose but be pedantic. As Crosby & Collins' "Hero" in the 90's, I never wonder what is right or wrong. I just know. Don't argue with me. Argue with the person nearest you. Point, counterpoint, rebuttal. Keep it coming. Any Socratic debate, any town meeting, any spirited discussion or thrust and parry. I want you to talk. I intend you to talk. Because, minus talk therapy, there is only medication, and this is not ever an answer for the literate. Fill your mind or open your mind, but don't close it down.
At least not until you've memorized all my answers. And, shouted them from an orange crate.--CEE, 8/28/10 < Less
