I'm currently working on the first of a new novel series, which I collectively call The Phoenix Series. The first book is Phoenix Born, which I'm writing for January Novel Writing Month (seen here: http://janno.ymakadomain.com). Sixteen days into it and I'm at approx. 55,000 words (having hit 50k two days ago), with my goal of 60,000 just in sight. I've had a lot of time to write, and it's been very fun. The story is about a girl battling herself to sate a Phoenix. /vague Writing this, I find that I miss Grey for its simplicity; yet since I discovered that I can indeed write creatively (because I was terrible with it in high school) I've been wanting to write an elaborate and detailed world that I could expand upon in a series. The interesting thing I find about my writing is that since I haven't read many things in the past (which I'm now trying to rectify - I'm reading 5 things at once), my writing doesn't resemble any particular established style or adhere to conventions of genre. It's fun, messing with Fantasy yet still keeping it serious. Yet I'm very into finding "different" kinds of Fantasy or fiction. They're quite the inspiration. So, it's a very large experiment, another exploration that isn;t quite an adventure, but it's quickly become as personal to me as Grey. Posted on Tuesday 16 of January, 2007 [17:46:46 UTC] Hey! I'm Jessica (but call me Sen, perhaps). I'm 20, a third-year student at O'More College of Design, Visual Communications major. I draw a lot, sometimes professionally, and I write a lot in my spare time because my mind doesn't seem to like to rest lately. I just published my first novel here, Grey. Fantasy, but not in any classical sense. There are a few mythic beasts, but it is also on the pseudo-spiritual side. Things having to do with devotion and justice, simplicity and human nature. You will get no better description than what is on its content page, so please take a look: I hope you all had a lovely Christmas/holiday and will have an even lovelier New Year! I'm not sure if it's particularly "new", groundbreaking, certainly not edgy; but I do wholeheartedly think it is something unique, something solely my creation - even I myself don't know what to call it. If you're interested, you can draw that conclusion for yourself. Posted on Sunday 31 of December, 2006 [12:53:31 UTC] Hello! My name's Jessica (or you could call me Sen). I'm 20, a 3rd-year at O'More College of Design, Visual Communications department. Right now I love digital art for convenience and diversity, although the computer can be strenuous on me. One of my largests interests is creating digital paintings with earthen and realistic textures so they won't look digital - admittedly I have more interest in this than practice, however. The picture for my recently-added novel Grey is all digital. Adobe Photoshop and Painter 6. There are also tiny hints of background texture, which I can't resist adding into things lately. I hope you all had a lovely holiday and will have an even lovlier new year! Posted on Sunday 31 of December, 2006 [12:37:34 UTC] Having finally published my novel here, I am now attempting to spread the word through word of mouth. It's obviously not a large-scale thing, but if anyone's interested in my work, please support it, and tell friends of yours that might also be interested! Grey, the Spiritual-Fantasy, somewhat inspired by the works of Hayao Miyazaki, an adventure of light from out of nowhere. By the way, I hope you had a very Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! Posted on Sunday 31 of December, 2006 [12:25:24 UTC] Hello everyone! Glad to be here! I'm Jessica (but please call me Sen), 20-year-old 3-year Visual Communications student of O'More College of Design. I illustrate but also do a ton of writing in my spare time. Any fantasy novelists about? Epic, high, urban, any sort of fantasy, fan or writer. I'm interested! I recently published my first novel here which I wrote early in 2006! It's called Grey and deals with the delicate balance of people and places and what these people do in new environments. Devotion, responsibility, justice, and more. It's lightly fantasy, but not very much like fantasy in the classic sense. I'm bad at describing it, but it can be found here. I love writing "different" things, and I especially love reading them. I'm striving to become distinctive, as we all are, to let all inspiration flow and keep going towards the unattainable in hopes to land amongst distinction. One more thing: a slightly late tidings of the season to you all, and Happy New Year! Posted on Sunday 31 of December, 2006 [12:03:44 UTC] Hello! This is my first post here. Just getting the feel of things! I am currently wrapping up the cover of my first novel. Posted on Tuesday 12 of December, 2006 [09:50:44 UTC]
