Adwords for your words

It’s unlikely to find an internet user that doesn’t use Google. And you can use this to your advantage when someone does a search for a subject that relates to the content of your book.

Through Google Adwords you can ensure your content appears in the list of search results. You decide and purchase the keywords that convey what your creation on Lulu is about and when someone searches those words your content will show up and they can click through directly to your book on Lulu.

Your book could be listed in search results thousands of times a day. How much you pay for keywords impacts how high your content appears on the list.

Keyword advice

You will up your chances of making a sale if you are offering exactly what the Googler is searching for. Use words that are true descriptors of your content and the more specific you can make your keywords the better.

An example of this would be: You have designed a cookbook and published your grandmother’s classic recipes from the East End of London. Good keywords would be: Cockney cookbook, East End recipes and cooking jellied eels. Words that are far too general to target your audience would be: cookbook, cooking and recipe.

Budget well

Getting a hit doesn’t need to cost a fortune. Spending a couple of pounds a day can make Google work for you, particularly if you follow these tips:

  • Bid on low cost terms.
  • Optimise your adwords. Is your book only in Spanish? Make sure you target only people who speak the language.
  • Bid wise. The top spots are expensive and don’t always deliver the sales. Go for the fourth to seventh spot range.
