eBook (PDF), 446 Pages

Price: $2.50
Daring to cross political and racial lines, in a manner yet unseen in the literary world, 2023: The Fall of an Empire invites Americans to revisit their history books and learn from the mistakes of other once powerful nations that have actively participated in their own demise. This 430 page tale takes the reader through a political and emotional journey that expands beyond America’s borders. It challenges the citizens of the United States to analyze exactly how “un-united” they truly are and to realize their true vulnerability in the international arena. 2023 emphasizes the need for America to pull together as a united nation, but admits that, division may be inevitable based on modern politics, religious conflicts, and the inability to effectively communicate across racial, cultural and religious lines.

"Definately Clancy-esque in terms of writing style!" We have to agree with the previous posts, not onlyin terms of the writing style and content, but also the "not for the junior reader" warning. This book is very gripping and leaves a lot for debate and conversation at the dinner table so I can only imagine what would happen when it gets out in to the general population. It raises a lot of questions that most politicians would be very uncomfortable answering and is very thought provoking. We thought there was some religious undertone, too. One of the better books we have read in the past decade. We'll go with the previous post and give it a ten out of ten!

"An old man's opinion" Next September I will turn seventy and I have seen this country go through many changes, both good and bad. I have seen wars and conflicts and remember well the stories my own parents told of their struggles through the Great Depression. There is not much I feel I have not witnessed first hand. That being said, 2023 paints a dark picture for what lies ahead for the generation that will be in power and hold political office fifteen years from now. Although previous posts have advised this is not for younger audiences, I feel this novel should be mandatory reading and can only open the eyes of America's youth in understanding that, perhaps Mr. Cain is correct, and that the Cold War did not end in the 1980's. In truth, we are still fighting it and ultimately this country will face the consequences of the ignorance we have fostered in our own children and grandchildren.

"Would make a great movie!" I thought Cain's style was similar to that of Tom Clancy's earlier works. The military strategy and character development is excellent and this book offers a lot to both male and female readers. 2023 presents some very bold ideas and leaves the reader asking some very disturbing questions regarding the state of our nation in terms of our internal politics and the way other countries see us. Portions of the book are very violent which is understandable as it does not seem that America would go down without a fight but the ending had some unexpected twists and the actual end of the United States in the book completely surprised me. I would not recommend the book to young readers due to some of the graphic violence that appears in later chapters but do believe that every voting American should read this if for no other reason than for the questions that it rasies. The book has a lot of conservative leanings but does do a good job of representing... More > various groups fairly and does not openly attack any one set of ideals. I think this would be a blockbuster on the big screen and I really hope some studio would have sense to go after it as a film considering how much dribble Hollywood normally puts out this would be a movie that would actually be worth the eight dollar ticket price. The book does need some editing as the author admits in the beginning but not anything so major that it is distracting from the story. There are a lot of unique ideas and phrases that could end up being "quotable quotes". The chapter titles are particularly interesting and I recommend researching the meaning behind some of them after reading the full book. If you do it before hand it may give away more of the ending than you want! Overall I would give the book a 10 out of 10. I have a feeling that Abel Cain is destined to become a household name and that this book has real potential to hit the best sellers list not just in the US but around the world! Definately worth the read!< Less
