Book Review: Spiritual Digest for Each Day of the Year by Adebayo Ola Afolaranmi This book is a collection of quotable quotes by some well meaning personalities all over the world, most especially those with Christian background, the author inclusive, whose thoughts have changed many lives for the better. The author does not commit intellectual robbery by giving credits to those authors and the ones that are unknown he also makes this known to his readers. Perhaps the beauty of this compendium is the making use of the relevant passages from the Bible which gives biblical endorsement to those thoughts and by implications those quotes do not contradict the Scripture. In today’s world when a lot of people are in a hurry at the expense of their soul, this book will be useful to them as it is meant to be a daily dose from above, despite the fact that it is not a replacement of the human Manual, the Bible. Those of us who have benefited from the Internet Ministry of the author are living... More > proofs of the effective handling of the Scripture by the author in a simply but masterly way to meet our contemporary challenges. Simply put, this is daily application of the Scripture and since it addresses every issue under the Sun, having this book is akin to having a Master Key that opens every door of human aspiration. The strength of the book also lies in the inclusion of relevant hymns that are buttressing the messages of the quotes. Most people today have forgotten the beauty of the hymns and having this book would make us fall in love with our hymns once again. Another interesting thing about the book, since its strength is derived from the Bible, a global solution to every human problem, is that it is useful in every part of the world. It is global in perspective and not meant for a set of people or race or political affiliation. Another plus of the book also is an index each for the themes, authors, hymns and Bible verses used at the end of the collection. This makes it possible to have easy references to the themes, authors, hymns and Bible verses used in the collection. I recommend this book to everyone that desires to know God more, to confront contemporary challenges with the ageless wisdom of God and since God is not synonymous with failure, the readers of this book cannot but succeed in whatever human endeavour they find themselves.
