Adelheid is a story of how the author, born in Germany in 1941, lived through testing times with her family and how they overcame it all. The book contains lots of heart warming stories, a personal account of travelling in Europe in the 1960s and the joys and struggles of living and working in a new country. It is a story of childhood memories mostly from post war Germany, to leaving for Paris as a young woman where she almost gets kidnapped ! How she moved to England in the 1960s and observed and lived all the cultural differences. It has many funny experiences as well as stories of human altruism when times are tough. I found this book compelling reading and very hard to put down.
